At last we can glaze a photograph onto a plate and other china. Previously the only method available was sublimation, a combination of heat, pressure and special ink onto coated plates. We did not sell these as the coated plates did not meet our quality standards. Now we can glaze a photograph.

Photographs Glazed Onto Plates

Nearly every day we are asked to glaze a photograph onto a plate. Until now we have not been able to do this as the specialist printers who produce the necessary ceramic decal were interested in orders of 5000 and upwards - not much use if you want one plate! A decal is a sort of transfer made of different colour glazes that melt at a very high temperature and glaze the china. Now we have invested in our own machinery.

The cost of a plate with a photograph is a little higher than the stock designs to reflect the cost of making the decals.

If you need one we offer several stands or hangers for your plate, first order the plate then come back to the site by using the 'back' or 'continue shopping' button - the shopping cart will remember your order for the plate. A top-quality presentation box is available as an optional extra.

There is a choice of  plates, all measure 8 inches/20cm:

  • a bone china plate with a rim;
  • a bone china plate with rim and gold gilded edge; and
  • a fine bone china plate with either gold or platinum rings.
We can glaze a photograph onto a coupe plate, but it does not look as good as a bone china plate with a rim. If you really insist on a coupe, order a rim plate without rings and just write 'coupe' in the text box along with your message. It is the same price as a plain bone china plate.

  • Type the wording you want on the plate in the text box.
  • Click on the 'Order' button. This will take you to our shopping cart. If you want a plate stand, click on the 'back' button to return to the site and go to the Plate Stand page to order your stand or hanger. If you don't want a stand, continue in the shopping cart and tell us your name and address, then on to our bank's secure website to arrange payment.
  • Now, send us your photo by attaching it to an email, or by returning to this page and completing the form below. Add your name so we can match the photo with your order. If using the form, click on the 'Browse' button to find the image file on your computer; double click on the file, then click on 'Submit'. Your photo will then be sent to us. Please wait until you see a message on your screen telling you the image has been received before closing your browser.
